  1. Love the way the spotlight and shadow are bound to waltz together knowing that the spotlight holds all the power in the relationship. For the shadow cannot exist without the spotlight. Beautiful piece Sunra.

  2. This is so good, Sunra. I love the juxtaposition in imagery at the beginning, and how it defines the poem very well. It made me think back to a theater class I took and the stage was an open, terrifying friend; bright lights, reverberations, and all too knowing yet blank eyes that made their presence. It’s a startling line and it gets you on the track of the entire poem; and that closer ties it all together with how these two people connect so differently and yet they come together anyway. They must exist in this world together as they fill something the other did not have. I love this, it’s absolutely brilliant and beautiful.

    1. Thank you so much for your wonderful words, Lucy! 💖 The stage is like that, yes! Though I’m not too familiar with it. I always found it interesting how well shy people perform on stage sometimes, in terms of poets reading poems. But the way you describe it is almost like a love affair and I love that that came across so thank you ❤️
