It was somehow
in the way you
murmured
in my ear
the song you played
a-thrumming
the sibilance
between
pauses
of significance.
Torture me again,
why don’t you.

So your title made me think of potato skins. Now read this again as if the speaker has gone keto but really wants some carbs to tempt her to eat naughty again. 🙂

Whatever I was thinking doesn’t matter as I like your interpretation better! 😀
(Side note: I was referring to smoking papers and obvs, no clothes lol)

great lines (and the sibilance of the word “sibilance”, nice!) what a great way to describe the tension and release that music gives us
“Torture me again,
why don’t you.”
or in other words, play it again, sam. love everything about this little poem, very well done

A great poem – but till I read the comments I had no idea it was about smoking. Your words go some way to explaining the hold that tobacco has on some people. Sooo tempting!

This is a fun one, Sunra–which is not to diminish the skill shown in writing it. I too loved the ending, and the fluid way you turned the picture(and prompt word) into poetry. So sorry you are having trouble commenting at my place–I was having the same issues almost everywhere til I changed the cookie settings in my browser. Internet security protocols have gotten ridiculously complex. My blog settings do allow anonymous commenting, so I’m thinking it might be that. Anyway, thanks for letting me know you stopped by.

Thank you so much, Joy, for your kind words! I always love your visits! I shall certainly pop by your blog and try and comment again. It might be because I was trying to do it on another device. I tried on a few devices tbh so I wasn’t sure why it was happening. But I’ll find a way around it! Thanks for letting me know, my lovely! ❤️
